At the end of this week a in school art contest comes to an end. It is a art contest themed around Red Ribbon Week, the art can be created by the artist or can be one of the many different coloring pages available in the office. Rules and any other related information below!
Do you and/or your child love art, or do you have a appreciation and desire to explore new techniques and mediums in art? If so then the Williamston Figure Study after-school class is the place for you!
This class has been going on for years and is attended by students of many different ages and experiences in art. We have students from all over Williamston and even neighboring schools come to this wonderful class, and along with that there are even artists from the community that take the class too! We meet for a total of 10 times and create 9 different art pieces during that time. The day we met is every Tuesday (weather permitting) from 6 to 8. This figure study class is just what you need to up your game and make you stand out from others in the art world! We have various themes we do every night as well as working with varying mediums too. Check out the posts from last years classes to see all the cool stuff we did! http://wmsartgallery.weebly.com/wms-art-program-happenings/figure-study-session-1-2-and-3 http://wmsartgallery.weebly.com/wms-art-program-happenings/march-14th-2017 If this is something that sounds interesting to you and/or your child then feel free to contact you students art teacher. There is Mrs. Herek at the elementary schools, Mr. Gere at the middle school, and Mrs. Kubu at the High School. Any of us should be able to provide you with information on this fun and enriching class! Last Saturday some art students from Williamston and our Figure Study program came out and gave back to the community! We went to McLaren Hospital and painted two murals in the pediatric wing, check out the amazing pictures below and watch it transform from a blank wall to a beautiful piece of art!

http://www.creativemany.org/resources/city-pulse-seeks-artists-to-submit-cover-art/ If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Last Friday the judging for the Susan Lorenz Memorial Art show happened and 9 Honorable Mentions were chosen, those were Eva, Juliana, Anja, Sarah, Ava , Emma, and Aliana! Those not in the middle school who also were chosen were Emma and Paige.
The first place winner of this year was High Schooler Manon! Thanks to all the amazing artists who entered and feel free to go by the High School Media Center to view this great show and come out to the closing ceremony next week Monday, May 1st from 5PM to 7. The wonderful schools Jazz band will be playing from 5 to 6 followed by closing ceremony honoring all the winners and participants of this years art show. Today I wanted to make a post about all the amazing art from the Middle School that I have had students turn in to me so far for the Susan Lorenz Memorial Art Show! If your child is interested in submitting any art TODAY is the last day for the art show, so feel free to drop it off after school and we will be accepting art until 6:30 today.
I wanted to inform you today to inform you about this amazing local art show coming up next week. It is the Susan Lorenz Memorial Art Show an it is open to all student's K-12 here in Williasmton.
Artists can enter any piece, big or small, 2D or 3D! It only needs to be school appropriate. This Art Show is a great opportunity for anyone who has an art project they are proud of! We have 10 runner up/honorable mentions and one grand prize winner. All get certificates and ribbons, but the grand prize winner gets their art piece purchased by the school. There is no size requirements, but there is a requirement that 2D (on paper) art pieces must be "framed". If a frame is not readily accessible this can be easily done with matboard and plastic by me during a workshop I will be holding next week Tuesday up at the high school. Also I might have a few small frames that I can loan to students to use if interested! Info on it is on the schools front page in the form of a flyer, or if you have any specific questions don't hesitate to ask! Of the participants for the Ingham County Art Show Aliana H-C was one of the few entries from all over the Lansing and surrounding area to be accepted int the art show!
