Last night we had our third night of figure study up at the high school. Each of our three rooms had a specific theme, gothic, surreal, and fairy/nature. Check out the pictures below to see what was done! Well if you missed Figure study last night or are interested in what happen check out the pictures bellow! The nights focus was developing hands and feet in oblique views, really complex ideas. The group did a great job! Today we are starting our last project of the semester, a surreal Dali inspired self portrait. The students will be learning all about surreal art and Dali's work through out the movement. So consider this the first picture of many of people in class with Salvidor Dali pipe cleaner mustaches!
We are currently doing a clay project where students designed a gargoyle and have been working feverishly on making it out of clay. Students even processed the clay too! The hope is to fire them over our nice break and come back and paint them.
The WMS art students have been hard at work on creating their individual interactive sculptures after finishing up their time doing printmaking. The new project that they are working on is called Altered Books. These Altered books are books that we saved from being thrown away and will go in and "alter" every inch of it. They are doing such things as carving in and on the cover, gluing on 3D objects onto the cover, cutting out pages, adding in pockets, and altering already existing pages. They are really coming together, make sure to ask your student about them today! Pictures to come soon.

WMS art departmentOur goal is to help any students become enthusiasts about art and it's related topics! no need to be nervous, whether you are a extremely talented artist, or someone who is interested but not to confident about your ability's, there is a place here for you. We do lots of different projects in class, and learn about famous artists like Chuck Close, Banksy, Dr. Seuss, and many more. We also stride to make a difference outside the art room, with our sights set on many different opportunities to give back using art. Archives
