This past Friday the Art Department's of the Middle School and High School want on a field trip to see the art gallery's of Lansing, including the Eli Broad Museum, Kresgy, Saper, Metro Space, Lansing art gallery, and more! We all saw lots of amazing art and had a great time! Our 6th grade group even made it on to the front page of the Saper Art Gallery web site, follow the link to see them! http://sapergalleries.com/#Photo This field trip was able to happen thanks to Michigan Youth Arts and a grant they awarded to Williamston! This activity is supported by Michigan Youth Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. Thanks to all the great people who opened their doors to let us see their art gallery's and the personal tours, to all the chaperons who helped out, and especially the students who were great representatives of Williamson Schools and had a fantastic time learning about Art and the area around them! Congratulations to our two Middle School artists that made it into this amazing show! These two artists are Ellie Maxsom (6th grader, picture depicted to the right) and Matthew Ridge (7th grader, image on the left). Their artwork was selected to be a part of the Region 8 display for the Michigan Art Education Association Tuesday March 8 - Friday April 1. This show features the best art K-12 for Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Livingston & Shiawassee Counties. We are very fortunate that Gracie's Place Gracie’s Place in Williamston) was chosen as this year's Michigan Region 8 Show. It will make it very easy for you, friends, and family to view the show. The reception for the show will take place on this Saturday, March 12th @ 2-4 pm. Check out their art below! Hello everyone! Over the weekend I drooped off ALL THIS ART to the Ingham Student Art Competition! This year I had 20 students enter in art, which is AMAZING. Out of the Hundreds of art pieces entered in each year only 40 are chosen. Last year Williamston got quite a bit accepted and we had less entries, this year I'm hoping for the best! More info to come when the final choices are made.
The 6th Grade Students have been hard at work completing their Odd Taxidermy Papier Mache projects! Below are some in progress pictures, check them out! Finished pictures to come soon! |
WMS art departmentOur goal is to help any students become enthusiasts about art and it's related topics! no need to be nervous, whether you are a extremely talented artist, or someone who is interested but not to confident about your ability's, there is a place here for you. We do lots of different projects in class, and learn about famous artists like Chuck Close, Banksy, Dr. Seuss, and many more.
